ABOUT LAURENSON LANDSCAPE DESIGN Robyn Laurenson, of
Laurenson Landscape Design, is a multi-award winning Auckland landscape
designer who has been designing gardens since 1998. Robyn has a Bachelor of
Science, a Diploma in Landscape Design, and an extensive plant knowledge. Robyn has
a deep love of New Zealand’s wild landscape and a strong belief in the restorative
quality of nature, and of gardens. She enjoys being able to bring a sense of
these qualities into gardens. The end result is beyond a dream. Maureen and Kevin

also has a strong sense of responsibility towards the natural landscape, and
aims to minimise the impact on the environment of any garden she
designs. However, she believes style
need not be compromised in designing with an awareness for the environment. Her
aim is to create gardens that are aesthetically pleasing as well as good for

assessed by our peers and found to meet the required professional standard.
Landscaping New Zealand has a complaints procedure in place, tailored
specifically for the protection of our clients, in the unlikely event that
there will be a dispute. INSURANCE We are
fully insured with professional indemnity, public liability and statutory
liability insurance. AWARDS Robyn received the Premier Research
Recognition Award in the 2008 Landscaping New Zealand Awards for her work on ‘Searching
for Soul in New Zealand Gardens.’ In addition she won a bronze award at the
Ellerslie Flower Show 2004 for her garden ‘City Sanctuary’, and a gold award
at the Ellerslie Flower Show 2003 for her design ‘Philosopher’s Garden’. Check Laurenson

what their clients have to say about their work. HISTORY Robyn grew up on a farm in
Northland. Here she had the freedom to roam and explore wide open spaces, and
developed a love of our natural environment. She was also strongly influenced
by her grandparents’ garden, a beautifully landscaped half acre in the East
Coast Bays of the North Shore, where she holidayed as a child, across the
road from the beach. This was a wonderful garden for hide-and-seek, for large
family meals in the shade of trees, and for romance. Robyn
began her career as a Mathematics teacher before undertaking her OE. It was
while working in London that she discovered there were easier ways to make a
living than teaching! She began working in the computer industry, initially
in the Planning Department of Shell Exploration and Production, where she
worked on planning for the construction of oil drilling platforms in the
North Sea. After returning to New Zealand, Robyn worked for Fletcher
Construction, processing accounting and payroll systems. After taking a few
years out of the workforce to raise a family, she retrained as a landscape
designer. Robyn has
recently moved to Beach Haven, on Auckland’s North Shore. This is close to
the inner Waitemata Harbour with numerous walking tracks through significant
mature native bush reserves. Robyn takes advantage of these tracks whenever
she can. She also loves to travel throughout New Zealand, enjoying landscape
photography and exploring back-country roads, and walking or tramping into
wilderness areas. Robyn has
